Cut down to size

At last I've found something to diminish the sheer effrontery of Warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science (Stalin's Gift): a humble car park puddle. Since I don't want to diminish the diminishment, follow this link to see the Palace in its domineering glory.

I'm posting this in Paula's Thursday's Special challenge, where the theme is serendipitously Opposites.

    • Your flattering comment on my first puddle reflection encouraged me to hunt puddles – and welcome rain. However I’m ambivalent. Puddles are an irresistible attraction for the twins, and Maja especially is pitiful if she gets wet.

    • I’m a bit startled to find how much blogging shapes my photographic world view: I even find myself taking back-view photos of the twins so I can use them in a post! I used to preach the importance of audience as English teacher and literacy consultant, but I’m only just seeing what an effect it can have – fountains for Gilly, owls for Paula and my daughter, pretty things for Jo. And it goes on! My vision expanded.

  2. I agree Meg about blogging and photographs I find the blogging story quite often shapes the photos I take. I will now start looking at puddles in quite a different way. Mind you we don’t get a lot of puddles over here as not much rain and then they do dry up very quickly. I love this one you have captured…
